Incoming Account Managers at Gartner typically spend 1-3 years in their entry level role. There are two common paths for promotion. The first path is moving into a manager/coach role and overseeing a team of 8-10 Account Managers. If someone wants to stay in an individual contributor role they can move into a field sales role, with opportunities available across the country. Other successful Account Managers have gone into roles with different business units such as Marketing, Client Services, Recruiting, Finance, or Research.
