Vector Marketing

The Vector Marketing Opportunity

Vector Marketing offers college and university students exceptional career opportunities in sales and sales management. At the heart of our business is the belief that in order to be successful, we must first help others to succeed. A position with Vector Marketing is more than just your typical college job. At Vector, we’re in the business of building “Skills for Life.”

Corporate executives agree that there are some common traits that lead to success in any career. Solid communication skills. Leadership abilities. Learning to be a team player. Setting goals and following a plan to accomplish them. Strong interpersonal skills. Developing a comfortable presentation style. These are just some of the skills a Vector experience provides.

A sales career can be both challenging and rewarding. It’s also one of the surest ways into the CEO’s office (nearly 40% of today’s CEO’s started in sales). In fact, sales experience can contribute to success in a wide array of professions. Regardless of career goals, Vector Marketing representatives find they are more prepared for life after college—professionally, financially, and personally than the majority of their peers. There’s a world of opportunity out there and Vector can help open the door.

“My Vector experience has always meant so much to me. Nearly every day, I can identify a skill I currently employ that has its roots in my Vector experience, whether that be public speaking, planning budgets, schedules and agendas or most importantly, selling my ideas to those around me. Professionalism, eloquence, and unique experience do not come with age; they come with opportunity and work.”

People

Why are so many students attracted to the Vector Marketing opportunity? Perhaps it’s our focus on people. Vector Marketing follows a strict “promote from within” policy, meaning that all of our office managers started as sales reps themselves. This background provides the field experience and professional insight needed to develop talents in others. We remember what it was like to juggle work around classes, exams and extracurricular activities, and we’ve designed our business to accommodate flexible schedules. We also offer students a chance to advance at their own pace, with the possibility of several promotions before graduation. Most importantly, our management team provides the on-going training, personal attention, and support that means so much to young people.

Products

Vector Marketing matches its world-class training with Cutco Cutlery, the world’s finest cutlery, and home products. Manufactured in Olean, NY, by master craftsmen, Cutco products carry a “Forever Guarantee,” that protects the consumer’s investment for a lifetime.

Put solid training together with an unparalleled product, and you have a sales program that works. The result is exceptional growth and profitability. In 2007, Vector Marketing enjoyed annual sales exceeding $197 million in Cutco products to both new and existing customers. In fact, our customers, more than 15 million of them, are so loyal and pleased with Cutco’s value that nearly all Cutco business is done on a referral basis.

“As a Vector Intern, I developed time management and organizational skills that really helped me with my schoolwork. I also got hands-on experience with public speaking and improved my interpersonal communications skills. In addition to the financial rewards
of the position, Vector provides its interns with the types of experience it takes to succeed in today’s business world.”

Programs

An important key to Vector Marketing’s growth over the last decade is the strength of our training programs. Designed especially for people who may have limited work experience, Vector Marketing’s training focuses on the basics: product knowledge, building rapport and developing a comfortable presentation style. Through a combination of classroom training, field training with experienced reps, and attendance at regional conferences, Vector representatives are well prepared to have a successful work experience.

The Management Development Program

Vector Marketing’s advancement program offers individuals with strong performance and interpersonal skills the chance to participate in our Management Development Program. Often combined with an academic internship, this path allows students to assume management roles within the organization prior to graduation. These positions offer a relatively risk-free chance for a young person to evaluate their interest in the career, and in our organization.

At the same time, we are able to select the best from this group for permanent career positions with Vector Marketing after graduation. Information about Vector’s advancement opportunities, and internship program, along with position descriptions and learning outcomes, can be found on our website at http://www.campusrelations.com/.
