The National Scholarship Program of the PSE National Educational
Foundation was created to recognize individual accomplishment in
the areas of PSE, academic achievement, and school/community activities.
OVER $40,000 in Scholarships are awarded and based on the following written and verbal criteria, (listed in order of importance):
- Pi Sigma Epsilon Activities
- Career Objectives
- Overall and Major GPA
- Educational Goals
- Campus/Community Activities
- Education Financing
Eligibility for Scholarships:
- Any Pi Sigma Epsilon member in good standing who is enrolled in an undergraduate program and working toward an undergraduate degree with at least one semester, two quarters or summer session left before graduation.
- A graduating senior with outstanding loans to his/her university. Checks must be written to a college or university and cannot be made to an individual. There is no exception to this IRS rule.
- Any Pi Sigma Epsilon member in good standing who is or will be enrolled in a Graduate Program working toward a post graduate degree (such as an MBA) with at least one semester, two quarters or summer session left before graduation.
- Note: A Pi Sigma Epsilon student in good standing who studying abroad for the spring semester and will not be at the National Convention, is still eligible for a scholarship. You must present proof of your study abroad and participate in a phone interview with the scholarship committee.
Scholarship finalists, selected from the Scholarship Applications (available online at: www.pse.org/pseonline-scholar-upload.asp), will be invited to meet with the National Scholarship Committee at the Pi Sigma Epsilon National Convention. All interviews must be made in person at the National Convention. The only exception would be if the student is studying abroad for the semester. All scholarship checks will be paid after the National Convention. You will be sent a form that you need to fill out and return to PSE HQ to be paid.
Memorial Scholarships
- William H. Harris Memorial Scholarship - $1500
Provided through contributions made in memory of PSE Co-Founder
and long time Faculty Advisor of the Iota Chapter, William
H. Harris, for his unwavering dedication through four decades
of PSE.
- Whan Memorial Scholarship - 2 total, both at $1500
each Dorothy (Jake) Whan established this scholarship
in 1989 in the name of her late husband, Tony Whan. Jake's
substantial contribution has assured this scholarship to
be given for many years. Tony Whan was an advertising executive,
a former president of SMEI, and a Professional Director
of PSE. These scholarships are awarded with support from
Mrs. Jake Whan in memory of Tony and in recognition of his
avocation of marketing education.
- Debbie Khalil Memorial Scholarship - $1000 PSE
alumna Debra (Baar) Khalil passed away in 2006 after an
extended illness. Debbie graduated from the UW - Whitewater
with a BBA in 1979. She was a member and leader of the Beta
Gamma Chapter of PSE. Upon graduation, Debbie worked for
PSE HQ as a Field Representative before her successful career
in computer programming and systems management. Throughout
her life, Debbie continued her involvement with PSE as an
active volunteer, serving several years as the Chairperson
of the National Scholarship Program and as a member of the
Board of Trustees of the PSE National Educational Foundation.
- Past National President Scholarship - $1000
Sponsored by the PSE National Educational Foundation, through
contributions made by Past PSE National Presidents, this
scholarship recognizes a rising senior with a career path
in sales.
- Marvin D. Loos Scholarship - $500 Initiated by the Iota PSE chapter at Arizona State University, this scholarship honors Marvin D. Loos. Marv is a charter member of the Iota chapter (April 22, 1958). With over 50 years of continuous commitment to Pi Sigma Epsilon as involved alumnus and national leader, Marv is PSE’s official historian. A close personal friend of founders Lew Gordon and Dr. William H. Harris, Marv brings to the fraternity an understanding of PSE that few have had the opportunity to acquire first-hand from the individuals who made our fraternity a reality.
- Trenton Haack Memorial Scholarship - $500 PSE alumnus Trenton Haack passed away in 2008. Trenton was
a 1994 alumnus of Miami University of Ohio and the PSE Gamma
Gamma chapter. Trenton served in various Executive Board
positions in the chapter. After graduation, Trenton was
Gamma Gamma’s Alumni Advisor for 10 years. He was
a three-time recipient of PSE’s National Award - Top
Alumni Advisor. Trenton was a member of the PSE National
Council since 2001. Trenton served as the National Secretary
on the Council and was slated to be PSE National President
in 2010. Collegians will remember his role in leading the
case competition at national conventions.
